Anti-Lock Brake System: Description

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) consists of an actuator, active light relay, ABS motor relay, ABS solenoid relay, ABS Electronic Control Unit (ECU), and 4 wheel speed sensors. ABS ECU and ABS motor relay are part of actuator assembly. See Figure.

ABS indicator light and BRAKE light are located on the instrument cluster. Both indicator lights come on for 3 seconds as a bulb test when ignition is turned on. ABS indicator light will come on whenever an ABS-related malfunction occurs, and both ABS and BRAKE indicator lights will come on when EBD malfunction occurs.
