Radiator Fan: Removal
WARNING:
DO NOT remove the cylinder block plug or the radiator draincock with the system hot and under pressure because serious burns from coolant can occur.
- Disconnect negative cable from battery.
- Drain cooling system below the upper radiator hose level. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove upper hose from radiator. (Fig 1).
- Remove fasteners that attach air cleaner housing to vehicle. Reposition air cleaner housing.
- Raise vehicle on hoist.
- Disconnect and remove the powertrain control module (PCM) with bracket.
- Disconnect radiator fan electrical connector. (Fig 2).
- Lower vehicle.
- Remove radiator upper support mounts. (Fig 1).
- Remove air conditioning line support bracket screw. (Fig 3).
- Remove radiator fan assembly screws from radiator. (Fig 1).
- Carefully lift radiator fan assembly up and out of lower shroud attachment clips.
- For radiator fan assembly sub-component removal procedures. (Refer to DISASSEMBLY ).
