CMTC Test 1A - Identifying CMTC Problems

NOTE: Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Using scan tool, select BODY SYSTEM, then COMPASS MINI/TRIP. If scan tool displays BUS OPERATIONAL, go to next step. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS TEST 5A  . If scan tool displays any other message, go to VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS TEST 1A  .
  2. Using scan tool, select AUTO SELF TEST. If any segments fail to light or scan tool displays FAILED, replace CMTC module. CMTC module is located behind overhead console. See Figure under CMTC TEST 6A. If AUTO SELF TEST is okay, identify problem(s) listed in CMTC DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table and perform indicated test(s).

(1) Replace CMTC Computer (CMTC) module.
(2) Perform VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS TEST 4A  .
