CMTC Test 6A - CMTC Button Problems

NOTE: Perform CMTC TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Turn ignition off. Access CMTC button assembly. Using external ohmmeter, backprobe button assembly connector. See Fig 1 . Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace button assembly. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  2. With ohmmeter still connected, press and hold STEP button. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace button assembly. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Move ohmmeter lead to terminal No. 3 on button assembly connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace button assembly. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  4. With ohmmeter still connected, press and hold US/M button. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace button assembly. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CMTC module.
