How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

• Use this procedure to troubleshoot the smart key system.
• The hand-held tester can be used in steps  3,  4,  5 and  7.
• When troubleshooting the smart key system using the hand-held tester with the engine switch off, connect the hand-held tester to the vehicle and repeat turning any of the courtesy light switches on and off until communication between the tester and the vehicle begins (the interval ON and OFF should be less than 1.5 sec).

1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
   1. NEXT : Go to next step. 
2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS CHECK  
   1. Confirm problem symptoms.
   1. NEXT : Go to next step. 
3. CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (SEE  DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ) 
   1. Check for DTCs.

      HINT:

      This system uses multiplex communication. Check for DTCs for the multiplex communication system before performing the troubleshooting.

      DTC is not output.	A
      DTC is output.	B

   1. B : GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
   2. A : Go to next step. 
4. CHECK DTC (SEE  DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ) 
   1. Check for DTCs.
      1. Record the DTCs.
   2. Clear the DTCs.

      HINT:

      After DTCs are all cleared, check if the trouble occurs again 6 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).

   3. Recheck for DTCs.
      1. Simulate the malfunction and check if the DTCs are output again.
         DTC OUTPUT
         
         

         DTC is output.	A
         DTC is not output.	B
         DTCs are not output, and the malfunction cannot be simulated or checked.	C

   1. B : Go to step   10 
   2. C : SYMPTOM SIMULATION (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
   3. A : Go to next step.
